Episode 18: And..Action! The Beatles in Film Part 1

In the weeks before Christmas, Frank and Rachel talk about the films that The Beatles made during their career such as A Hard Day’s Night, HELP! Magical Mystery Tour and more.

The Beatles made quite a lot of movies during their career, the most recognized (and one of Tom Hanks’s favorite films) A Hard Day’s Night.

The film was directed by Richard Lester, whom would work with The Beatles again on HELP! in 1965. It follows The Beatles through 36 hours in their life as they prepare for a TV appearance. It’s a musical comedy that was nominated for two Academy Awrds including Best Screenplay.

The film also gives you a taste of what Beatlemania was like in 1964.

George Martin, whom helped produce a lot of The Beatles music with his orchestral arrangements, he scored the film and you’ll hear some classic Beatles songs with a more cinematic feel to them and it fits the storyline perfectly.

You can watch the movie on Amazon Prime, HBOMax or on AppleTV+.
