Episode 19: And..Action! The Beatles in Film Part 2
Frank and Rachel continue their discussion of The Beatles in film with the movies John, Paul, George and Ringo were involved in separately which includes Give My Regards to Broad Street, The Magic Christian and more. George Harrison’s production company, Handmade Films is discussed and how his film company saved lots of productions, including a Monty Python film in which he makes a brief appearance.
The Beatles still continued to make films, even after the group had split up. After the split, Ringo felt incredibly lost and depressed, however he also wanted to explore a different creative outlet whilst he was making records and drumming with others: he wanted to be an actor. He made a bunch of films and it’s no surprise that he did becasue a critic called him a natural!
George Harrison was another one who ended up working in the film industry and created his own prodcution company called Handmade Films. He was also a big Monty Python fan and was good friends with Eric Idle and helped to see Life of Brian be finished and saved it from financial problems.
Paul McCartney too is a film lover and has made appearances in films such as Give My Regards to Broad Street and even wrote a song for Badfinger called Come and Get It which was featured in the movie, The Magic Christian.
