Episode 7: The White Album (1968) Part 2
Frank, Dan and Rachel continue their discussion of The White Album and how the album is connected to Charles Manson. Meanwhile, some of the songs Manson misinterpreted are explored.
Charles Manson was an American criminal and cult leader of the Manson family. He was also a Beatles fanatic.
A lot fo the songs off of The Beatles’s White Album he thought held secret messages for an apocalyptic race war. Some of those songs he misinterpreted that you will hear us talk about in this episode are “Blackbird,” “Piggies,” and “Rocky Raccoon.”
There is one song in particular that he took on a sick and twisted meaning that will be discussed in part three.
It’s safe to say The Beatles weren’t too keen on Manson’s interpretations, often dismissing his views on the songs as rubbish or being appalled at some of the things he said which you’ll hear us talk about in this episode. Thankfully The Beatles and Charles Manson never met.
