Episode 9: Abbey Road (1969)

Rachel and Frank discuss the last album The Beatles ever recorded as a group and perhaps one of the most famous and iconic cover photos of all time: Abbey Road.

The six photos Iain Macmillian took for the Abbey Road album cover. Number five is the one that you see on the actual album itself.

Abbey Road is the eleventh and penultimate album that The Beatles recorded as a group before their break up in 1970, although Let It Be is the last album in The Beatles discography.

George Harrison’s songs “Something” and “Here Comes the Sun” have been regarded by many as some of his finest work.

The phot of the album cover shows the four walking across the famed zebra crossing as they cross over to Abbey Road studios. The phot was snapped by Iain Macmillian, a Scottish photographer. He also took the picture of Paul McCartney walking his English sheepdog across the same zebra crossing for his album Paul is Live.

There were six variations of the Abbey Road album cover that Macmillian snapped photos of as he only had ten minutes to take the pictures.

The Abbey Road album cover is now one of the most famous covers and has been the most recreated.

Abbey Road is another contributor to the “Paul is Dead” Conspiracy Theory.
