Episode 5: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)

Frank is joined by Rachel again as they continue to discuss The Beatles foray into the psychedelic period and the soundtrack to the Summer of Love in 1967: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was the eight studio album created by The Beatles. This album really explores more of the experimentation and psychedelic period The Beatles continued to dabble in. The album was released on May 26th, 1967. Paul McCartney was the one who came up with the band within a band concept as The Beatles wanted to shed their mop top image.

This album has also been regarded as an early concept albumand was involved in the counterculture movement of the 1960s.

This album also contributes to the biggest conspiracy theory in the history of music, which is the “Paul is Dead” conspiracy theory. We’ll talk more about that theory in a later episode as there is lot of contributing factors to that story.
